The Monterrey “Borregos” women’s soccer team came from behind to beat the UDLAP (Universidad de las Américas Puebla) Aztecas 2-1 on aggregate and win their fourth consecutive CONDEIP national championship.

Coached by Carlos Marcos, the girls lost 1-0 in the away game of the final at UDLAP but won the return leg 2-0 to take their fourth consecutive title, once again on the Borrego’s home field in the Banorte Stadium.

My players left it all out there. It was eleven players’ farewell game. I’m absolutely thrilled. The season couldn’t have ended any better,” enthused Coach Carlos Marcos.

"It is the result of perseverance, resilience, and the strong bond they have formed as a family," said coach Sandra Rosales.

"Standing shoulder to shoulder, supporting one another, sacrifice, and discipline were definitely what brought us here," she added.

The most valuable player of the tournament was Karina Esquer, captain of Borregos Monterrey, who played a key role in helping the team defeat Borregos CEM in the semifinal in overtime with a score of 78–77.

"Sacrifice and discipline were definitely what brought us here".

Solid in attack and defense

From the first quarter, the home team led the game’s offense, and thanks to their strong defense and the Tigres’ erratic shooting, they won it 12–5.

In the second quarter, the home team’s dominance continued, backed by the support of their fans, and they managed to take a 30–14 lead at halftime thanks to a well-balanced offense.

In the third quarter, Tigres attempted a comeback, but Borregos Monterrey didn’t allow it, finishing the quarter 41–24 in favor of the home team.

Third place went to Borregos CEM, after defeating CETYS Tijuana 73–60.

With this title, Borregos Monterrey becomes the team, along with UPAEP, with the most 8 Grandes championships, each having won it three times.
