Graduates from the Monterrey campus are on the E-100 list from the Association of Mexican Entrepreneurs in recognition of their economic and social impact.

Eight Tec graduates from the Monterrey campus are on the E-100 list from the Association of Mexican Entrepreneurs (ASEM) for generating a positive impact on society with their projects.

This initiative aims to recognize founders of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises who aim to find solutions to societal problems, either through their businesses or individually.

The Tec graduates included on the list are Daniel Guajardo Flores, German Zubia, Hector Antonio Zuno Bustamante, Homero Sanchez-Leon, Javier Garcia Iza, Juan Carlos Cante Reyes, Maca Rotter, and Rogelio Jose Martinez de la Peña.

Here are their startups and projects.

 

 

Healthier eating

JASEDA, a company co-founded by Daniel Guajardo Flores, is dedicated to developing dietary supplements with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties from patented black bean extracts.

The Wellbean dietary supplement, made from black bean extract with vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc, received the Food Tech Award for “Innovative Product - Supplement” from The Food Tech Summit & Expo.

It means telling my students that there are other ways to research and carry out projects, that there are other ways to develop professionally,” said Guajardo, who is also a Tec professor.

Guajardo also founded SCI_Zanatta, which focuses on the development of scientifically backed cosmetics.

Benefiting children’s education

Across 13 learning centers in five states, 3,900 children and 4,300 caregivers have benefited from Hipocampusastartup from German Zubia, which has also generated employment for 115 women from vulnerable communities.

These learning centers aim to provide quality education and care, as well as strengthen the parenting skills of caregivers, creating a positive and sustainable impact on vulnerable communities.

Zubia said that 100% of the children attending the centers show progress in their development in the first six months, especially in language, using the CEDI test as a measurement tool.

Michoacán, Veracruz, the State of Mexico, Irapuato, and Guanajuato are some of the states where these learning centers are located.

 

 

Creating an award for politics

Recognizing excellence in international political communication is what the Reed Latino Awards are all about.

This initiative was created by Héctor Zuno Bustamante, who is also a founding partner of Poligrama, a company specializing in opinion polls, political communication, and electoral campaigns in Mexico and Latin America.

Zuno’s startup has provided employment for around 50 women, including some single mothers.

The graduate is also a professor at Tec de Monterrey and a columnist for the Mexican newspaper El Financiero. 

 

 

Supporting the construction industry

Cuvo, a platform focused on the construction industry, was created by Homero Sánchez-León.

The company aims to become an ecosystem that connects construction companies, architects, civil engineers, and vendors so that they can generate projects.

Sánchez-León pointed out that the Lean Construction methodology has supported more than 200 families, in addition to generating direct jobs.

Cuvo has also received recognition from the United Nations (UN) for promoting the country’s economic development.

It was also named Startup of the Year at Hannover Messe 2022, Germany’s most important industrial technology trade fair.

 

 

Creating workspaces

Javier García Iza creates workspaces that increase productivity with IOS Offices, a company with a presence in 12 cities across Mexico. 

The company has over 40 locations offering offices, meeting rooms, and common areas for coworking, serving more than 20,000 users per month.

Established in 2007, IOS Offices has locations in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Tijuana, Mérida, León, Cancún, among other cities.

It has also created activities such as a race to support children’s causes, reforestation, and talks with leaders.

 

 

Advocating for nutrition

Juan Carlos Cante created Gooday, a business focused on nutritional products, and has also launched other brands in different categories.

These brands have supported foundations such as Proyecto DEI, Proed, Criantia, among others. 

The Tec graduate said that his brands are focused on improving people’s quality of life in four areas: nutrition, physical activity, emotional management, and nurturing relationships.

Cante is also CEO of Caza Trading Company, which specializes in trade with international supermarket chains.

 

 

Improving logistics in transport

Established in 2008 by Rogelio Martínez de la PeñaSISAT is a company that provides distribution logistics control and management services through technology. 

Their products have helped companies with last-mile routes reduce their CO2 emissions, fuel expenses, and operating times by more than 15%.

Martínez de la Peña said that they have been able to support programs such as Leaders of Tomorrow and the EO Business Accelerator.

The Tec graduate has founded other companies related to route logistics.

 

 

Association of Mexican Entrepreneurs

ASEM was established in 2015 with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship and improving conditions for entrepreneurs in Mexico.

They created the annual E-100 list with the aim of showcasing company founders not only for the success of their companies, but also for the social impact they have.
