Tecnológico de Monterrey has 10 academic disciplines in the global Top 100, four of which are in the Top 50, according to the QS World University Rankings (WUR) by Subject 2025.
Business and Management Studies (21st place); Marketing (25th); Art and Design (40th); and Art History (21st to 50th) are the disciplines that place it among the top 50 universities in the world. The final subject appears for the first time in the Top 50.
These results mean the institution has 14 disciplines in first place in Mexico and eight in Latin America.
David Garza, Executive President of the Tecnológico de Monterrey Education Group, recognized how these results reflect the efforts of professors, researchers, and academic leaders.
“This provides well-deserved recognition of our professors, researchers, and academic leaders, whose effort and vocation contribute to transforming the lives of people and communities through education,” wrote Garza in a message posted to social media.

The Tec’s 20 outstanding disciplines
Juan Pablo Murra, Rector of Tec de Monterrey, highlighted that the institution aspires to be a university of excellence by ensuring it has the best talent.
“At Tecnológico de Monterrey, we aspire to be a university of excellence centered on innovation, committed to fostering a community that imagines, investigates, strives, and leads solutions that transform reality.”
Murra added that the results in these rankings reflect the effort and vision of the deans, their teams, and all the institution’s faculty.
“I’m honored to recognize our faculty, who are advancing knowledge in the service of society in each of our disciplines, making it possible for us to continue making a difference on a global scale.”
In total, the Tec was evaluated on 29 disciplines, of which four appear for the first time this year.

- Social Policy and Administration (101st to 150th place)

- Communication and Media Studies (101st to 150th place)
- Engineering – Civil and Structural (101st to 150th place)

Feniosky Peña-Mora, Executive Vice President of Research at the Tec, said that this progress in the QS WUR by Subject provides recognition of the impact of research and academic excellence.
“These rankings evaluate key aspects such as citations of our research and the perception of academics and employers, which demonstrates the importance of our scientific endeavors.”
Peña-Mora said that this achievement was made possible thanks to the talent and commitment of research professors, whose dedication drives knowledge and innovation.
“We continue to commit to research as a fundamental pillar for generating solutions that contribute to the sustainable development and wellbeing of our society.”
QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025
This year’s rankings analyzed 5,203 institutions from 148 countries, of which academic disciplines from 1,747 universities were evaluated.
These subjects are sorted into five subject areas, namely:
- Arts and Humanities
- Engineering and Technology
- Life Sciences and Medicine
- Natural Sciences
- Social Sciences and Management
The methodology used for evaluation includes five indicators:
1. Academic Reputation
2. Employer Reputation
3. Research Citations per Paper
4. H-Index
5. International Research Network
This rankings list has been prepared since 2011, and is one of those produced by British evaluation firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), such as the QS World University Rankings, QS Best Student Cities, and other regional rankings that evaluate educational institutions around the world.
