Tec de Monterrey: In Top 10 of entrepreneurship rankings for 6th year

Tec de Monterrey has been ranked 6th in The Princeton Review’s 2024 Top Undergraduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Rankings, and is the only international university among the first 10 places in these rankings.

Published by The Princeton Review, these are some of the most prestigious rankings in the United States, and are among the few to specifically evaluate entrepreneurship in over 300 universities.

The Tec has participated in the rankings since 2016, and the institution has been in the top 10 since 2019, alongside universities such as the University of Houston, Babson College, University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

These rankings provide a guide for students looking for undergraduate entrepreneurship programs.

Entrepreneurship, one of Tec de Monterrey’s hallmark features

David Garza, Rector and Executive President of Tec de Monterrey, pointed out that the institution has promoted research, innovation, and entrepreneurship among its community for 80 years.

Juan Pablo Murra, Rector for Higher Education, recognized Tec de Monterrey’s commitment to promoting innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit among its students.

“The most prosperous cities are built with the help of entrepreneurship and innovation. That’s why we focus on developing our students’ skills so that they can be lifelong entrepreneurs who are sensitive to society’s needs, as well as using research, innovation, and creativity to help solve them.

Rob Franek, Editor-in Chief of The Princeton Review, said the colleges that appear in its 2024 ranking stand out in many ways.

The ranking methodology

The methodology used includes the review and analysis of information from each participating university in 3 general sections:
 

1. Academics and Requirements

For this section, Tecnológico de Monterrey offered 133 subjects and 2 degree programs promoting entrepreneurship to its students.
 

2. Students and Faculty

This year, more than 1,000 professors have taught at least one class related to the subject, which means that 61% of undergraduate students enrolled in at least one entrepreneurial subject, regardless of their professional degree.
 

3. Outside the Classroom

This section analyzes data on the activities of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and considers the efforts made by universities to support the entrepreneurial community.

More than 1,300 entrepreneurial projects have been carried out by academic entrepreneurship program graduates over the last 5 years.

Support has been received from over 1,000 mentors from the business sector, through programs such as Enlace+.

Currently, the Institution offers various initiatives to promote new companies, science and technology-based startups, and regional entrepreneurship ecosystem acceleration.

The Tec boosts entrepreneurial culture through incMTY, the annual fair that connects and inspires the entrepreneurial community of Mexico and Latin America.

Thanks to the institution offering entrepreneurship programs, the Tec is a member of consortia such as Ashoka, GEM (a member for over 20 years), and GESS; initiatives such as MIT REAP, MIT Legatum Center, and Venture Café (the Tec being the first venue in Latin America); as well as the Hult Prize.

Similarly, it collaborates with international universities specializing in this niche such as Babson College and Berkeley.
