Professor Elliott Kruse received the distinction for his “Leadership and Organizational Behavior” course, which he teaches on the edX.org platform

Elliott Kruse, a professor in the Department of Strategy and Leadership at EGADE Business School, was named as one of the finalists for the 2023 edX Prize for Innovation in Online Teaching.

Kruse was selected for hisLeadership and Organizational Behaviorcourse, which he teaches to help learners develop a leadership style that can adapt to their strengths and needs.

This eighth prize recognized 10 finalists, all of whom are professors from institutions around the world.

These educators teach leading Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in various fields, each of which is available for free on edX.org.

EdX Prize finalist

The EGADE Business School professor and the other finalists were selected by a panel of educators and leaders from the edX community.

This selection was based on evaluation criteria such as the use of effective, attractive, efficient, and equitable teaching methods, as well as innovation in student-centered design.

The edX Prize is an annual award which celebrates the contributions and innovations made by educators and recognizes those who have demonstrated commitment to the online open education community.

“The 2023 edX prize finalists represent diverse institutions and disciplines and are steadfast in their mission to expand society’s knowledge and understanding through free and open courses,” added Agarwal.

Winning the 2023 edX Prize were a group of professors from Curtin University who gave a course entitled “Autism and Mental Health,” which was announced at the 2023 edX Global Forum in early October.

edX is a global online learning platform which powers the world’s ambition. It was developed in 2012 by Harvard and MIT with the aim of making the best education in the world available to everyone.

As part of 2U, edX connects more than 78 million people to online learning through collaborations with prestigious universities and other leading organizations.

About Dr. Kruse

Dr. Kruse has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University and a postdoctoral research associate (2013-2015) at Princeton University.

He has co-written many articles and received the best paper award in 2011 from the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Kruse’s research focuses on how values shape leadership. His interests include ethics, motivation, and decision making.
