Would you like to get up to speed on how to use ChatGPT? Tec de Monterrey has just launched a training course for learning how to use ChatGPT effectively and implement it mindfully and responsibly in educational settings and the workplace.
“The course includes an exclusive interview with an international Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert from Hong Kong, as well as being very dynamic and digestible. It’s designed for any participant to get familiar with ChatGPT and understand the basic tools.”
This was the explanation from Jorge Nava, E-Learning Project Coordinator at Tec de Monterrey’s Institute for the Future of Education.
The content is now available on the Coursera platform and is open to the general public.

ChatGPT course content
The ChatGPT - Applications and Strategies course consists of 17 hours of training that can be divided into 3 weeks by investing 5 hours a week or as managed by the participant.
This course contains 4 modules that will teach you about:
- The history and foundations of Artificial Intelligence, the essence of ChatGPT
- Key concepts for using ChatGPT effectively
- Implementing ChatGPT responsibly in educational settings and the workplace
- ChatGPT ethical considerations, capabilities, and limitations
“We invite you to immerse yourself in the world of Artificial Intelligence, which can help us with everyday tasks.” - Jorge Nava.
Nava explains that the course is designed with dynamic videos, texts to read, and presentations. One of its main attractions is that the instructors have enriched the learning experience by including an exclusive interview with Sean McMinn, an international AI expert from Hong Kong.
The content was created by the Living Lab & Data Hub and Alternative Credentials unit, both from the Institute for the Future of Education at Tec de Monterrey, specifically by professors:

- Olaf Román, Pedagogical Architect of Educational Innovation and Digital Learning at the Tec
Course open to the general public
Although the course developed by Tec de Monterrey is open to the general public, it is focused on people interested in Artificial Intelligence seeking to generate text content using natural language processing models.
The E-Learning project coordinator makes a special invitation to the Tec community to take this course, as well as to people wanting to get up to speed on how to use AI:
“Many of the Tec’s subjects are focusing on Artificial Intelligence, so this course would be a great way for you to get the latest information.”
Free and paid course options
The ChatGPT - Applications and Strategies course is available in 2 formats: free and paid.
- Audit (or free) format: You can consult the content, but you won’t be able to take the exams or obtain a certificate, i.e., it would be reference material.
- Verified (or paid) format: Students pay the amount of 491 pesos and receive full access to the course, take exams, upload their project, and obtain their certificate with the Tec and Coursera logos if they pass.

How to sign up for Tec courses on Coursera
Tec courses are offered on Coursera to the general public, as well as to its internal community.
Here are the steps to follow to sign up on the platform for this new Tec program or for other Tec courses:
How to sign up if you’re part of the Tec Community
- Go to tec.mx/latriada (this won’t work if you go directly to Coursera).
- Click the Join for Free button.
- If you’re a Tec student, teacher, or employee, click on the Log in with Tecnológico de Monterrey button.
- Sign in using your (student or staff) Tec email address.
- Select, if applicable, if you are new to Coursera or if you are already a user with your Tec account.
- Review the Explore Catalog option to find out what courses are available.
- Click the View All tab in each category to explore the courses offered.
How to sign up if you aren’t enrolled at the Tec
- Go to the Tec de Monterrey page on Coursera.
- Click on the Enroll for free button and enter your information.
- Once you have logged in, select the ChatGPT - Applications and Strategies course.
- Click on the Enroll for free button.
- When a pop-up appears, select the Audit course option at the bottom.
- If you’d like to receive a certificate, go to your profile and explore the Coursera plus subscription, which has a cost.
Tec de Monterrey on Coursera
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Tec and other institutions and universities signed an agreement with Coursera to offer certifications at no cost, providing over 3,500 courses.
Prior to this agreement, the Tec was already offering free certifications on the platform through the La Tríada alliance, with courses from Tec de Monterrey, the University of Los Andes in Colombia, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
José Luis Mata, MOOC course administrator at the Tec, says that Tec de Monterrey has 20 specialized programs, 81 courses, and a total of 88 learning opportunities available on Coursera.
The ChatGPT - Applications and Strategies course, which is open to the general public, has now been added to these.
