Urban transformation, innovation, and connectivity were just some of the topics that distritotec presented at the Ideas that Transform: Innovation Ecosystems Conference, held in Colombia.

Distritotec manager Ana González participated in the November 21 panel entitled Knowledge in Motion: Strategies for the Creation of Innovation Ecosystems, in which she discussed various aspects of the urban community.

The event, organized by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, brought together leaders, innovators, and specialists to share experiences and strategies for the development of innovation districts.

“It’s very satisfying to be part of an initiative that’s been going for 10 years, working on a project that’s not only about urban regeneration, but also about generating an innovation ecosystem,” she said.

Recently, the EXPEDITION FEMSA building was inaugurated in distritotec, providing a catalyst for the Monterrey Innovation District that will allow researchers, entrepreneurs and industry to interact and develop solutions to global problems.

Tecnológico de Monterrey’s distritotec is an initiative that seeks to transform lives by bringing people together and providing a connection between academia, local people, businesses, and the Monterrey government.

“It’s very important that other Latin American cities see us as an example and guide.”

Discussing the Monterrey Innovation District

During her presentation, Ana González discussed the Monterrey Innovation District, located within Distritotec, and focused on how generating a research and innovation environment provides solutions to global challenges.

“It’s very important that other Latin American cities see us as an example and guide to how innovation districts can become richer if they integrate the community from the outset.

“In an innovation district, the community needs to be both diverse and involved and has a lot to contribute. This helps encourage encounters and motivation,”
she said.

The Monterrey Innovation District currently has two global allies: Venture Café and Science Gallery, as well as including the participation of municipal and state authorities, and other institutions.

On December 16 and 17, distritotec will also be an exhibitor at activities held by the University of Concepción (UdC) in Chile.
